Incidence of Myocarditis and Pericarditis in Post Covid-19 Unvaccinated Patients (mdpi.com)

Interesting! The study says that incidence of myocarditis did not increase post infection. I'd assumed that because with some vaccines we see a higher incidence of myocarditis, we'd see a similar effect for infections. Now that means my simplistic model of "everything the vaccine causes would be caused by the virus anyway" is less of a guide than I thought.

This study is tracking post-acute onset of pericarditis and myocarditis and as such doesn't appear to cover cases where pericarditis or myocarditis happen during acute infection.

did they include a third control of not vaccinated and not covid positive? i.e. baseline incidence? 50% of cases are idiopathic pre-covid.

Ah, thanks! I missed that.

> No statistical difference in the incidence rate of both myocarditis (p =1) and pericarditis (p =0.17) was observed between the COVID-19 cohort and the control cohort

"We did not observe an increased incidence of neither pericarditis nor myocarditis in adult patients recovering from COVID-19 infection".....
