Once you've got The God Given Truth, it's important to not collect data that contradicts it.
Unfortunately, the first assumption is incorrect, maybe at the level of quantum physics. More macro definitions of "reality" get even more fuzzy. Blue vs black dress etc. Sometimes heterogeneity is the reality.
The article is arguing that for all intents and purposes there is one objective reality, as science points out (otherwise it wouldn't work). The question tends to be, is this a sufficient explanation of objective reality, or is it still biased somehow.
I think the observation holds, and somehow society is putting way more value on subjective reality, especially around personal identity. One of the features of science is removing subjectivity, and proving something with the least amount of personal bias.
