Hollywood’s Fight Against VPNs Turns Ugly (wired.com)

From the article:

> "Any opinions expressed by Rick Falkvinge are his own and not a reflection of PIA or its beliefs as a company. In particular, PIA in no way condones child sexual abuse or exploitation of any form," ...

All you really need to know about the accusations from Hollywood. They're trying to paint VPN users as criminals by virtue of simply using a VPN.

Reductive, sure, but isn't this "you could use this tech to distribute unauthorized copies of copyrighted materials." I'll let the lawyers decide, but isn't this like "purse forgeries are sold in parking lots, let's outlaw them"?

> But court records show that studios’ legal teams ... are challenging the notion that VPNs should exist at all.

At face value that is a preposterous notion. I wish the article would elaborate more on what the legal basis for that is and how they define VPNs.

I'm sure Hollywood attorneys are too smart to slander anyone, so I'll be the first to ask:

Which VPN providers list "murder" in their feature checklists?
