This is horrifying. I have used these aerosol sunscreen products as has my whole family. If this is true, won’t there be at least tens of thousands of additional cancer cases expected in the next 2 decades?

It's not surprise its regulations are routinely ignored:

> the FDA’s limit is two parts per million, but some products that provided no therapeutic advantage were found with levels as high as 21 ppm


Sodium benzoate is a popular preservative, which, as far as i know, can decompose to form benzene in some circumstances. Maybe the journalist shall do some research.
