I can't recommend Leopold's A Sand County Almanac enough. I first heard of it on HN, actually, and I'm so glad to see more of his work posted here. For another great essay by him, give Good Oak a read.
Sure would be nice if we were able to recognise people like this, but since the worlds smartest people have been warning about climate change for a hundred years and we're still subsidizing fossil fuel I guess we're some way off.
