I also found this presentation/discussion with Chuck Spinney, one of Boyd's collaborators, to be a helpful elaboration of the concept - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdK4y6O-llE (the meetup also has a couple of other similar videos with Chuck Spinney and Chet Richards, another of Boyd's collaborators who focused on applying Boyd's ideas to business)

You should read Colonel Boyd's original work before thinking much more about OODA loops. It's pretty simple, just read the references: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OODA_loop#References

For better or worse, the paradigm fits well in PowerPoint slides.

There’s a great book on Boyd written by an acquaintance of mine(Major Ian Brown) from Marine Corps University’s Krulak Center for Innovation and Future Warfare:

It was interesting to learn that John Boyd’s papers were left by him to the USMC’s MCU rather than the USAF in which he served.

If you want OODA context for the slides, here are my notes from _Science, Strategy and War: The strategic theory of John Boyd_.

It's hard to absorb the slides without being able to experience the talk in person, but the talk itself seems so dense that even attending it live seems like it would be challenging to really grok everything.

Hopefully a video of this talk will be available someday.
