The UN's "one-time appeal to billionaires"[0] seems like it has sensible goals, and it includes about 10% devoted to "design, scale up and manage the implementation of efficient and effective programmes". Hopefully they want to be agile, rather than commit up front to a rigid plan.
Am.i missing something? Solve world hunger sounded like a one and done deal... This is sounding like a once a year deal... Distribution of food to the end user is mostly the plan... That's sounds very much like the giv man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he eats for life... It sounded like musk was thinking the second, not the first...
> Solve world hunger sounded like a one and done deal
This view is incredibly naive. Despite what FUD the media might’ve spread, it is not a rational conclusion.
> That's sounds very much like the giv man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he eats for life.
World hunger is caused by innumerable systemic problems - but definitely not because the hungry person “doesn’t know how to fish”. For example, in the USA itself, 1 out of 6 people are food insecure (1).
If you're thinking about earlier reporting that wrote about "solving", that was a mistake.
The UN never claimed that a one time donation could eradicate hunger once and for all. It was just an overeager headline by CNN, that Elon Musk read and took for real.
Who are “they”? Are you maybe falsely assuming that world hunger is specifically “developing country” hunger?
In the USA, 1 out of 6 people are food insecure (1). I’m also fairly certain that most people in most countries are not aware of how to grow their own food. World hunger is caused by numerous systemic issues, not the lack of farming abilities.
