My german isn't great, but what exactly is "Diatomaceenkunde?" I read Diatomaceen as 'diatomaceous' but 'Kunde' means something like client or customer[1], so I'm a little confused.
-kunde is the German equivalent to greek "-sophy" and corresponds to 'knowledge'. Geography is Erdkunde (as a school subject). Nowadays mostly used in pedagogic context (schools) or it can also sound old-fashioned.
