This hits me particularly hard right now. I just got home from visiting with my parents. My uncle was in town for a family friend's funeral.

I hadn't seen my uncle in person in a few years. As he went to bed for the night, and I got ready to head home, I realized something - my uncle is in his mid-70's, and if that pattern of only seeing him once every few years holds up... it might never happen again. The hug I gave him before he went to bed might be our last in-person interaction.

I'm going to visit him in Boston soon. There's no reason not to. Nothing I'm doing at work is worth not taking the time off to do it.
