Fifteen Years Forsaken (damninteresting.com)

The worst story of a forsaken man I've read is a guy who found himself all alone for several years during the 18th century, completely naked, on a sand bank in the Pacific (with not a single plant). He survived by eating turtles and seabirds, and drank rainwater from flipped-over turtle shells. IIRC he was from Peru.

Interested in this and had a google, closest thing I could find is this (is it right?): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Serrano_(sailor)

That may be the one. I've read about this years ago in a book about forsaken people and shipwrecks, I'll have to dig out the book :)

If it's the one that features a line like "gin-fuelled despair", then it's the one I thought of as well.

Edit: huh, it's not. I'll try and find the one I'm thinking of.

Good old damninteresting. I haven't seen an article from them in ages. I think I first read their articles in 2007.

We're still at it, we just have fewer releases than the old days. This is partly due to life getting busier, and partly due to our writings becoming more ambitious over time. I (Alan) am finishing up an article/episode now that I've spent over a year researching. It's fun, but occasionally exhausting.

Hey! I loved the text and orated ones with the sfx. Some good writing copy in there too.

Btw, TheHistoryGuy does about a topic video per day. Might make a good collab to lessen the exhaustion!? Burn out: bad! :D

What a great read.
