Python Steering Council Accepts Pattern Matching PEPs for Python 3.10 (python.org)

It's interesting that pattern matching has been accepted despite a poll showing a majority (65%) of core developers opposed to this particular proposal, and a plurality (44%) opposed to pattern matching altogether.

The common theme in popular programming languages. Start simple and gradually add complexity until matches C++/Java, then gradually lose appeal.

Common Lisp with MOP seems to be in better place. It seems complex at first, but that's all there is. Users can grow the language to match their need. No need for language steering councils.
