I bought the ink plate from https://www.crowdsupply.com/e-radionica/inkplate-6 to do the same type of project but have not got around to it yet. This is a good walk through for the display portion of the project. It would be a local status app slideshow instead of the web page. I am planning on getting a wall mount that allows me to easily charge and have it in a central location while still being able to take it off of the wall to do admin on the setup. I was originally leaning towards making it a quasi-dedicated ereader but between the boox note air and the remarkable tablets, the extra money to get writing functions is well worth it to me.

Curious that this came a few hours after https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25939042 , I like the scripts there that automate setting everything up Kindle-side, but the Heroku app is convenient.

I modified it so fetching "/" on my instance returns a boring notice page, and the URL to fetch the dashboard PNG is "/" + a-uuid-that-hopefully-remains-secret

How much Amazon spy garbage is there on a Kindle, and can you get rid of it all with a jailbreak?

I bought a kindle paperwhite that supposedly was supposed to have ads. I haven't connected it to the network and I just load books onto it with calibre. I really like that its waterproof too. https://calibre-ebook.com/

I'm new to the Kindle hacking world. But my understanding they can be have a custom ROM like an Android tablet.

I just leave it in airplane mode
