Wasp Alpha Released ā€“ Ruby on Rails as a DSL, with JavaScript

Built this together with my brother - we are now in Alpha and looking for testers and contributors!

Webpage: https://wasp-lang.dev

When using Wasp, you write Wasp code (simple and declarative) + Javascript (potentially also Typescript in the future).

Implementation detail: While Wasp compiler is written in Haskell, it generates human-readable web app written in Javascript. If you are wondering if contributing will be a problem because you don't know Haskell: no, it shouldn't be an issue, especially in this early stage! Right now most valuable for us is getting insights into what features are missing, what we could do better, how to make Wasp + JS/React experience better, and how we can generate Javascript code in a better way.

Best way to start is by taking a look at the Todo app tutorial and possibly joining us on Discord to stay in touch!

Is there a more complex example? Todo app is all well and good but Iā€™d be interested to see a real-world example

Yes! We are right now working on developing RealWorld app with Wasp, you can check it out here: https://github.com/wasp-lang/wasp/tree/master/examples/realw...

No unit testing? No thanks...

Of course we will have unit (and other) testing support! But we are still in Alpha so didn't get to it yet :) Here is an issue on Github that tracks this feature, feel free too add your thoughts as well: https://github.com/wasp-lang/wasp/issues/110

Thanks for your feedback!
