Show HN: Read the frontpage of today's New York Times (nytonline.net)

Hi, I'm the author. I was inspired by a post here on HN a few months ago about someone who put today's paper on a giant e-ink display. This link is just a helper redirect to the New York Times' website. For anyone interested, it's just AWS CloudFront for HTTPS directing to a lambda function to parse the current date and return a redirect.

I've been using this as my primary non-tech news source for a while, and I really appreciate the lack of adds and pop-ups, and the inability to follow links to anything. It restricts my news-reading to just the front page and that's felt pretty healthy. Sort of like the opposite of this recent XKCD: https://xkcd.com/2371/

Thanks! This is really needed in a world of constantly distractedly updated news feeds and doomscrolling. I'll try having this in a tab, F5 once a day. Just to get that feel of "I know what's going on".

Glad to hear you like it!

Is it still working? I tried it and it redirects to an NYT CDN page.

Apparently, the site's whole purpose is to redirect to the current day's NYT front page.

It didn't work for me either, but yesterday's link works:

Perhaps the redirect logic should be adjusted to link to the previous day, until the current day's page is published/ready.
