Ask HN: What is the worst software you are forced to use?

at work, i am forced to use ring central. i cannot tell you the pain and frustration of having to fight with something constantly in order to use it. everyday i find more and more bugs with this POS. it's gotten to the point where i think i'm going to just uninstall the software after i forward my phone to my cellphone. i highly recommend anyone considering a voip provider to use anyone else besides them.

what are some software that you are forced to use and that want to warn others to avoid?

I forget what we started on, but in the mid-90's we used to use a Solaris software suite in tech support as a knowledge base. That software was great.

Then we got a new manager, and he made us all switch to Windows NT and Lotus Notes for the knowledge base.

I think right up until the end of that company, only that manager liked Lotus Notes. Talk about clumsy and taking up way too much screen space to show any amount of information that previously was far more compact and easy to find.

Confluence comes to mind...

and JIRA

Yeah, though at least JIRA got a little less painful lately...
