Not sure about the costs in the US, but here in the Netherlands, $300 worth of vitamin D would be about 30000 10mcg pills...

edit: Some googling shows that they costs around 3 to 5 cents per pill in the US, so you're suggesting to send everyone 6000 - 10000 pills?

You can buy a year's supply of 5000 IU/125 mcg D3 (which may be a bit too much as a daily dose according to current NIH guidelines) for ~$15 in the US.
