It's a political article which made me hesitate submitting it but since it is extraordinary in the sense that Scientic American hasn't supported any presidential candidate before, I decided to give it a pass.

Not a very sensible move. It will cause issues with their credibility going forward (not because they picked Biden, but because they picked any candidate).

Did you read the article? SciAm opens by acknowledging that their endorsement is unprecedented, then supports it in great detail by showing how this presidency has indeed been unprecedented.

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." -Desmond Tutu

The kind of people to get angry over this probably don't read scientific american.

The US now has a president who openly defiles the rule of law (Stone, Flynn) and is trying to invalidate the results of an election. These are extreme times, I don't mind them taking a stance.

Scientific American was the last print magazine subscription I had, out of a dozen at one point. I finally dropped it when they started to regularly publish highly politicized articles. That was > 10 years ago. With that record explicitly endorsing a particular candidate seems like a minor change for them.

Subscription must be sagging.
