Judge John Moses Cheney, a Republican running for the Florida Senate, had started a voter registration campaign to register African Americans to vote in Florida, because they had supported the Republican Party since Reconstruction.”
The fact that Democrats used to be the party of the KKK while republicans used to be the party of civil rights is so hard to wrap my mind around.
1 - Although there is some degree of truth in a "critical mass" required of like minds in order to "get things done" for a cause, it is also critical to "gather and scatter" in that critical mass and not exist solely among like minds. This is so critical for advancement of whatever the idea both in the "evangelism" sense and the "development" sense, that I don't see a need for a second reason.
2 - That identity politics should be avoided at all costs, and not simply for political parties. It saddens me that generations of voters have pulled red or blue levers for any reason other than to make the statement "I wholeheartedly agree with all of these candidates"
Joe Biden, the current Democrat presidential candidate, has a long history of racism. He has:
- Collaborated with segregationists to keep black kids out of white schools
- Been friends with, and said the eulogy for, members of the KKK
- Dog-whistled about integrated schools using the word 'Jungle'
- Wrote legislation that devastated African American families
This is all today's candidate. Granted, many of those actions happened decades ago, but it is in living memory. It's not hard to imagine at all.
Could you be any more obvious of a Trump stooge?
Last election I voted Libertarian, btw.
