FAA temporarily halts flights to NY airports amid virus-related staffing issues (nbcnewyork.com)

It's due to staffing issues but it would make sense to cut travel to the state somewhat anyway, considering that it's the leader in infections among all the states right now. California, I think, is second and it has nowhere near New York's number, which is currently at around 8,500.

NY is also the leader in testing, so that isn't surprising.

That's part of it but it's also highly popular and densely populated, both contributing factors.

10356 if you want to be precise.

Damn, I just saw 8,500 yesterday. Seems like the fast testing is uncovering cases every minute.

That's half the story. The other half is the speed with which the virus spreads.

I am seeing a distinct lack of emphasis on “You’re contagious even before you realize you have COVID-19”. Instead of just telling people “Stay home”, we need to provide the reason why. I don’t see that in White House briefings. In the press. No where.

It seems to be that the spread of the virus is fundamentally linked to this incubatory contagious effects, otherwise this whole Coronavirus pandemic would have been a localized epidemic in Wuhan.

Can we press hard on this? Tell everyone you know. The press isn’t doing their job, it feels.

They're telling people here to stay home. No lock-down, just don't go out if you don't need to go out. Life goes on as though nothing has changed. Super frustrating.

Why isn’t all domestic air travel on hold?
