In my mind, black is straight down, while loud is in front of me a little above eye level, rotated clockwise.
You can map any set of concepts into an N-dimensional space if you have a similarity metric between them. If some concepts are anchored in space, they define the overall layout. It could be that loud is related to large, which is related to tall, which is naturally anchored above eye level.
