This article sums it up for me. FB makes the short-sighted decision to allow apps to scrape friend-of-friend info, because it would encourage more app developers, from which they get a 30% cut. When this guy asks a question about scraping, his boss replies "better not to know." The company continues not to give a shit about distributing PII until they realize that someone might use that data to create a rival social network. Then they shut it down and treat the fallout as a PR exercise.

Utter scum.
