It's about time. Phone numbers change too much to be used as part of a reliable 2FA. You go on a business trip or a vacation, you of course get a pre-paid SIM card with a local number in your country of destination. It's simple and straightforward, most airports are lined if kiosks of vendors. But then you can't access any of your services. You can't do your work. 2FA should be based around something that isn't tied your location and doesn't change so regularly.



For international travellers, I imagine its a problem. Within a country - it is less a problem. In india at least, we have number portability between providers, so there is little reason to change your number.
