Does anyone else find it ironic that this is coming from Microsoft, yet they can't even open source a freaking web browser? Really?

Can you explain why they'd need to given the quantity of existing open source browsers already out there?

Because it's a web browser. What kind of proprietary trade secrets are they afraid of when every other browser is open, especially when they are touting the important of encryption and user security? More like they don't want users to know how much information they are actually collecting.
